My answer would be yes! because with the beat of the recession has not only slowed down the small scale IT business but it has drastically hit the big names too!!! Even big companies like Wipro, TCS, HCL have also started participating in the bids of small projects; which earlier used to be done by small or medium sized companies. With big giants intervention, small and medium companies have to struggle on every bid they participate. However, on the other side, it is a good news to consumer. The clients are quite happy with such intervention as they will be getting their product and services from big brands and that too at economic rates! :) Who wouldn't want it? So with raise in the expectations of the customer, small and medium scale companies also have to raise their standards of services.
These days clients have started adding a clause which clearly states that the party/vendor has to be CMMI Ver1.2 Level 5 certified to participate in bidding of projects. In other words, in order to qualify for bidding the vendors has to be CMMI Ver1.2 Level 5, failure of which would not let them even particip!ate!
Which such stringent clauses and requirements from clients, small scale IT companies and striving hard not only to get the CMMI vEr1.2 certification but more than it, i.e. CMMI Level 5 of Ver1.2. Nevertheless, having this change in the industry not only improves the quality standard for the customer but also provides a better angel of vision to small and medium scale IT companies. They are now in path of getting more organized and formalized in operation approach and I am sure they too will be benefited with compliance of the CMMI methodologies along with the client.
Hopefully, the end of recession would generate some meaningful and fruitful results to vendors as well to the clients!
