These days being certified always pays value to your IT profession and infact these days in IT sector, technical certifications have long been considered an important source for training and updating of skills. If you happen to see the job description in various job portals, you would find one thing common and that is ? They are looking for individuals who have IT certifications, as well as job-related experience.
So now the question lies ? what is better, having a certification or having relevant work experience?
In my views, if someone has achieved any certification from Microsoft, Sun, Six Sigma etc. That definitely implies that their Certification was achieved because he was familiar
with the subject and to some extent, the material. However, someone with experience, has encountered problems and dealt with them in that subject area. So both has its own prones and cons.
However, a question pops up ? If someone is having the strong work experience in the relevant field does he still need to have a certification?
Well! I think certifications are worthwhile because just a few years ago I would see people `rolling their eyes' at all of the certifications that people were getting. But now, IT employees need certifications more than ever. The market is demanding them.
We cannot turn our face from the fact that ?Certifications provide what level of knowledge and technical ability? and this always helps in selling the skill sets of an individual.
Many organizations these days bear the cost of training for the employees who seek training. Bearing cost mean ? they pay for the classes, the exams and even provide bonuses for employees who successfully complete their certifications. They infact promotes/encourage employee to undergo the certification.
Here, another question pops up ? why would a company bear the training cost of an employee when it is enhancing the selling power of an individual employee???
The answer to this question is ? its all because of business. If an organization has recognized certification within itself, it promotes the continuous learning by employees which in turn is always a healthy symbol for an organization and its clients. It is a healthy symbol for the client because it helps the organization in improving its corporate resume through listing the various certifications that the employees have. This aspect definitely provides a strong corporate image of the organization which certainly boosts their selling power in the market.
Thus, we can say that IT certifications are valuable for companies as well as for their employees.
